Grassroots focus for new Superbike Pathways Foundation
Building a strong Supersport 150 class and creating clear pathways for aspiring young New Zealand riders will be the focus of the new Superbike Pathways Foundation.
Foundation Purpose
The purpose of the Superbike Pathways Foundation (SPF) is to drive the growth of the Star Insure NZ Superbike Championship (NZSBK), with a particular focus on nurturing junior talent in the Supersport 150 and Supersport 300 classes.
SPF will support emerging riders through financial assistance, sponsorship opportunities, mentorship, and dedicated rider training. By building partnerships with grassroots racing organisations, SPF will establish clear and accessible pathways into NZSBK.
In addition, SPF will introduce incentives to inspire young riders to progress from entry-level competition through to the highest levels of motorcycle racing in New Zealand — and beyond onto the international stage.

The Foundation Steering Group members are committed to the advancement of motorcycle racing in New Zealand and will assist with the development and growth of the NZ Superbike Championship Series and its long-term sustainability.
Attention Aspiring Junior Riders
The Superbike Pathways Foundation (SPF) is dedicated to helping junior riders progress in the sport and achieve their racing dreams. With ambassadors such as Aaron Slight, Paul Treacy, and Stu Avant—all of whom have competed at the highest levels—and guidance from Peter Clifford, current Director of Rider Development for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, SPF brings world-class knowledge and experience to its mission.
A core goal of SPF is to discover New Zealand's next international star, while supporting as many young riders as possible on their journey toward racing Superbikes in the NZSBK Championship. Recognising that funding is the biggest barrier for most, SPF will provide assistance through an annual grants program and will connect promising riders with potential sponsors.

Eligibility Criteria
- You must be under 19 years of age as at 1/1/2026.
- Riders must be competing, or intending to compete, in all four rounds of the 2026 Star Insure NZ Superbike Championship Series.
