Iconic International boost for New Zealand Grand Prix meeting
The opening round of the 2026 Star Insure New Zealand Superbike Championship has just received a major international boost.
Global brand Iconic Motorbikes will be the naming sponsor of the New Zealand Grand Prix meeting at Ruapuna, on January 30, 31-February 1.
Iconic Motorbikes is the leading international online platform for listing and selling motorcycles, memorabilia and parts.
The Iconic brand has a huge worldwide digital footprint.
Their Facebook page reaches more than 350,000 people, their Instagram platform has more than 335,000 followers and their You Tube channel has nearly 20,000 subscribers.
Series promoter Mike Marsden has welcomed the deal with the California-based brand.
"It follows Iconic founder Adam Tromp's visit to New Zealand earlier this year when a highlight was meeting and spending time with one of his motorcycle heroes Aaron Sight," Marsden says.
"He was also seriously impressed with what we were doing, the vibe of the New Zealand bike scene and was buzzing when we asked him to present winners' trophies.
"I later called in on Adam in California a couple of months later and the relationship has continued to strengthen."
Iconic is currently setting up a New Zealand operation and sees involvement with the premiere New Zealand series as a valuable marketing tool, Marsden says.
Tromp is excited about becoming involved with NZSBK.
"I really enjoyed my time in the New Zealand bike scene in February," Tromp says.
"There was just such a positive vibe and getting to meet one of my heroes was an unexpected bonus.
"I said to Mike before I returned to the United States that I wanted to get Iconic involved and here we are.
"Having our brand associated with such a prestigious title meeting makes our involvement very special.
Grand Prix titles will be up for grabs in all championship classes.
The Iconic Motobike NZGP round kicks off the four-round 2026 Star Insure series.
The Christchurch meeting is followed a week later by the Burt Munro Challenge at Teretonga and then MotoFest (March 6, 7, 8) at Hampton Downs and MotoMania (March 13, 14, 15) in Taupo.
