Star Insure Re-Commits as Naming Rights Partner for NZ Superbike Championship
Star Insure, one of New Zealand's pioneering motorcycle insurance specialists, today confirms its continued role as the naming rights partner for the upcoming NZ Superbike Championship (NZSBK) series.
This renewal solidifies the connection between the nation's premiere road racing series and Star Insure, a company that has been an integral part of New Zealand's motorcycling landscape since 1979.
As a proudly Kiwi-owned and operated company, Star Insure’s support for the series is a direct extension of its long-standing commitment to the local riding community. The company was the first in New Zealand to develop dedicated insurance policies for motorcycles, creating a market that previously overlooked the specific needs of riders.
Roger Wallace, CEO of Star Insure, noted that this partnership is a natural fit for the brand's identity.
"Our story began in 1979, specifically to serve the motorcycle community. We were one of the first to really pave the way for motorcycle insurance in New Zealand, and that heritage is something we take very seriously," said Wallace.
"Our support for the NZ Superbike Championship is a continuation of that original promise. It's about reinvesting in the passion that drives our customers and supporting the sport at its highest level. As a local Kiwi company, we believe it’s vital to champion the communities we are part of, and the NZSBK is the pinnacle of that community."
The partnership provides essential stability and support for the championship, ensuring a high-calibre platform for New Zealand's best riders to compete.
Mike Marsden, NZSBK Series Promoter, highlighted the importance of having a partner that is genuinely embedded in the sport.
"To have Star Insure locked in again as our naming rights partner is fantastic for the championship," said Marsden. "They aren't just a brand on a banner, they are a core part of the Biker community. They understand the sport, the people, and the risks involved.
"This level of authentic support from a dedicated, Kiwi-owned specialist gives us the foundation we need to deliver another exceptional series for the riders, teams, and fans."
The 2026 Star Insure NZ Superbike Championship is expected to be the best ever, building on Marsden’s first year as series promoter.
“We’ve made huge strides in all areas and go into 2026 with a strong marketing, promotional and commercial package.
“We are particularly proud to have established the Superbike Pathways Foundation, aimed at supporting and developing talented young New Zealand riders.”
Marsden said the foundation will shortly announce the names of young riders they will be supporting in the entry-level 150 Supersport class.
“We’ve also built a strong relationship with manufacturers and importers and we see this becoming an important ongoing facet of the series.
“One of the first outcomes of this new relationship is the launch of the Sport Bike class in 2026, where there is such a direct link between what is selling on the shop floor and its conversion to a race bike.”
Marsden is also confident of a strong grid in the Supersport 600 and Superbike categories.
“The next generation of middleweight sports bikes are making their way to the racetrack, so we expect a good mix of brands to be represented.
“The Superbike class should also looking healthy and we have the newly introduced Trophy class which will further boost grid numbers.”
The popular Legends Garage returns for 2026 where spectators can get the opportunity to spend time with some of the stars of yesteryear.
There will also be bike displays and road riders will get the opportunity to ride a couple of laps of each championship track.
